Olivia's 4th Birthday Teddy Bears Picnic
It was such a pleasure to plan and style this beautiful Teddy Bears Picnic for Olivia’s 4th birthday. Everything from the delicate pastel pinwheels, to the cute mini picnic basket favors just looked adorable.
Olivia’s mum Clare knew that she wanted a gorgeous party to celebrate her daughter’s 4th birthday, but finding time to plan and organise such an event and run her busy Newborn Photography business was proving very difficult. (Take a look at her website http://www.austhorpephotography.com/ to see some of the gorgeous images she captures, they are truly stunning).
Clare enlisted Party Mums to help plan and style a party that would really reflect Olivia’s personality and allow the family time to enjoy the celebrations together. A relaxed meet up provided plenty of information for Party Mums to start the planning process and to understand what elements of the party were important.
Party Mums suggested a Teddy Bears picnic theme for Olivia’s party as it is super cute and girly, but would also appeal to all Olivia’s guests. Clare was conscious that she wanted to keep the party tailored around Olivia’s girly style, but she didn’t want to exclude the boys that would be attending the party. This theme worked perfectly. Pastel colours were selected instead of the traditional red and white picnic colours and these were carried through many elements of the party including the backdrop, table linen and party stationery.
As a party activity, bear skins were given out to all the guests by Olivia, who thoroughly enjoyed giving her guests a gift, what a lovely little sharer she was! Under Party Mums instructions, the guests were shown how to stuff their bears and make them super soft and cuddly. They were delighted when they realised that the bears were theirs to keep forever, thanks to Olivia. Once stuffed and named, the guests took their bears to the dressing station, where mini t-shirts and pens were available for the guests to decorate and personalise for their bears.
Party food was kept picnic style with each guest receiving their own decorated picnic box filled with sandwiches, cheese, mini savoury snacks and bear crisps of course. Gorgeous mini milk bottles with pastel striped straws were used to hold the guests drinks and prevent any spillages and a pastel cake stand on each table had yummy cupcakes for all to enjoy. Clare was keen to ensure that the adults at the party were taken care of too and requested that hot drinks and food be available for parents and family members to enjoy. What a lovely gesture, we can see where Olivia gets her sharing skills from.
Once the party food was eaten, the cake was brought out for all the guests to sing to Olivia, she was not shy at all and seemed to really enjoy this part of the afternoon. Then it was off to play on the bouncy castle or take your bear to the mini health check station, where you could weigh and measure your bear, check its pulse and listen to it’s heart beat.
With the party drawing to a close there was just one last gift for Olivia to give to her guests. Mini wooden picnic baskets, containing heart shaped chocolates, perfectly bear sized and oh so cute. The perfect end to a lovely party.
Olivia seemed to really enjoy the activities at her party and loved giving out gifts to her guests, she was so sweet, a real little organiser. There was plenty of time to have fun on the bouncy castle and play with her friends and the party food was perfectly packaged for little hands. The adults were surprised that they had been taken care of too with food and drinks.
Best of all, Clare and Gareth were able to spend time with Olivia and other family members at her party, creating lovely memories and having fun together.
What a lovely afternoon.
