Party Mums, Leeds based party planners, have meticulously planned and designed many beautiful Baby showers and celebrations for expectant mums. With pastel shades, cutie sweet treats and lots of girly touches here and there, they are the perfect celebration to gather friends and family and spoil the mummy to be, before the new arrival.
A relatively new type of baby celebration, called a Sip n See, is fast becoming a popular choice and offers an alternative to a Baby shower. A Sip n See is a great option for those who perhaps have not enjoyed their pregnancy, are uncomfortable with the idea of receiving gifts prior to baby’s arrival, or don’t feel relaxed having a Baby shower for their second child.
A Sip n See is also a great solution for those new mums who were expecting during the pandemic and unable to hold the type of Baby shower they would have really liked due to the social distancing restrictions.
So what happens at a Sip n See and what’s it all about? Sip n See’s are normally planned to take place anywhere from 1 - 4 months after the new baby’s arrival. This allows the new parents time to soak up their little bundle of joy, adjust to their new roles and settle into a routine. A Sip n See would generally be held at an alternative address to the new parents home, either a hospitality venue or perhaps a grandparents address. The idea behind the location, is that the new parents can arrive relaxed, with little else to do but enjoy soaking up their new bundle of joy and present their new addition to their friends and family. Trying to tidy your home and accommodate visitors when you have a new baby is a stressful experience, so the neutral venue removes this stress. Phew!
Sip n See’s normally last a few hours and the invitation is generally an open one, where guests are invited to ‘call in’, creating a more relaxed atmosphere. This open invitation ensures the new parents get to spend a little time with each group of guests and perhaps even enjoy a photograph or two with family and friends. What a great way to remember this special occasion. Due to the relaxed nature of this event, refreshments are generally more relaxed too. A self service tea and coffee area, plus cookies or cupcakes enables guests to help themselves. Of course as the new baby is now here, there is the option to set up a champagne or mimosa bar for guests to enjoy and toast the new arrival, including the new mummy.
Decorations for this event can be kept very simple, or of course now the gender of the baby is known, it could be an explosion of colour and accessories fit for the new Prince or Princess’s arrival. You could have balloon walls, garlands, light up letters with the baby’s name etc, the sky is the limit. It’s as much or as little as you like.
So what are your thoughts on a Sip n See? Have you heard of them before? Although originally planned in southern USA as a relaxed, minimal afternoon gathering, we would love to add some of the beautiful party decorations and styles from Baby showers to make this event simply stunning.
If you would like Party Mums to plan and design a bespoke Sip n See celebration for you and your new arrival, we would love to hear from you.
